President Bonnie King and Vice President Chris Lynch began work to establish FAYMAS in 2013.

Bonnie retired as Administrator of the Health Professions Quality Assurance Division of the Washington State Department of Health and has returned to work remotely, part-time, for the Washington State Nursing Quality Assurance Commission.

She has a BA in Education and a MA in Organizational Development and says, “This is my time in life to give back. What better way to do that than helping pets find their Forever Families?”

Vice President Chris Lynch has volunteered at the shelter for many years. She works an average of two days a week and also fosters kittens until they’re old enough to be adopted.

Chris retired from State Farm Insurance Companies where she worked in claims and corporate law for 29 years. She has a BA and a JD and is a member of the California Bar Association.

She said, “I’ve been impressed with the dedication and love of animals shown by the staff at the shelter, but also disappointed by what cannot be done because of limited funds. FAYMAS is filling needs at the shelter so they can do an even better job for all the animals until they find their Forever Families.”

Treasurer Jennifer Krutewicz works for Microsoft as a Senior Finance Manager and has over 12 years of experience accounting and auditing SEC, governmental, and not-for-profit entities.

She says, “FAYMAS funds projects to better the shelter and provide resources that may not be attained otherwise.

I joined the FAYMAS Board because pets need a home where they are wanted and loved. Daily, the shelter makes this happen! While I have used my skill set to support myself over the years, I am excited to put these skills to use for an organization I feel so passionately about."

Secretary Judy Bucholtz is an insurance agent with Colonial Life, has worked in the insurance industry for many years and has always been an animal lover. She sells pet insurance, too! Currently she has two miniature Schnauzers, a Husky pup, and two cats.

Judy says, “I joined the FAYMAS Board because pets need a home where they can be wanted, loved and spoiled.

The shelter provides so much for animals in need, that I feel honored to be part of FAYMAS.”

Public Relations Director Julia Gerardo Luna is a Talent Acquisition Representative at Athyna, finding the best talent and helping people attain their dream jobs. Prior to that she was a private English teacher primarily for corporate clients. She lives in Argentina with her willful black cat, Olivia, who loves running after her tuna treats and being involved in everything - extra help is always appreciated!

Julia says, “I visited the Metro Animal Services’ shelter in 2019 and I was moved by the warm-hearted work of the staff and volunteers. I’ve always had a soft spot for animals and being able to help them in this way is amazing. I joined FAYMAS because all animals deserve to find a happy Forever Family and a better life full of love.”

"Friends At Your Metro Animal Shelter" is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. PO Box 163, Puyallup, WA 98371.
